How to Navigate Site

Thank You for visiting the Blind Voices Coalition website.  This website is designed so that people who are significantly blind, use screen readers and have medium to low technical skills can use the website effectively.

The site will use very few images.  The site image in the top left corner of the screen also functions as a link to go to the home page.  Any other images posted to the site will have descriptions.

The webpage will render to all devices, smart phones, tablets & PC’s, but it does render in slightly different formats, depending which device your are on.  This is primarily due to the amount of screen available.

The site has one column with a sidebar or menu button on the right.  The main portion of the home page is laid out in a basic tree structure.  Except for the site tag, all items on the home page are descriptive  links that point to other descriptive links or pages with text. Which also may contain other links.

The sidebar on the right has a search box and navigation links.  On a smart phone, there is a menu button which will bring up the information that is on the sidebar.  The search box on the smart phone is at the bottom of the page.

Clicking a link will take you to the page the link points to.  If the page you land on has links, you will click the desired link to take you to the information you need.  Once you have reviewed the information  you need, you have two ways to go back.  You can use the back function on your screen reader or you can go back to the home page by using the Home link on the side bar or you can click on the site link in the upper left corner and it will take you to the home page.

Below are some device specific instructions.
